The reputation of Snapper lawn mowers so impressed Briggs & Stratton, it splashed out and bought the company that owned Snapper. Until then the lawn mower engine manufacturer had only limited dealings with end users. It's now in a position to fine tune it's engines in direct response to customer feedback. The symptoms of this include the development of technologies that overcome the hassles of starting gas powered rotaries such as: ReadyStart and Fresh Start. We are also seeing an increasing number of Snapper walk behind mowers equipped with electric starters.
Snapper Walk Behind Lawn Mowers
There are many who would argue that Snapper makes the best self propelled lawn mowers and we think they could be right. In support of the argument the company maintains that it invented the first self propelled rotary mower. When first released in the early 1950's, the so called Snappin' Turtles were an immediate success. Thousands of them were were snapped up by first time home owners obsessed with achieving and maintaining perfectly manicured lawns. As a consequence the push reel mower that had been ubiquitous until that time, was banished to the back of the garden shed.
Snapper lawn mowers have many unique features that account for their trade mark perfect cut. We have listed just a few of the styles below and their associated features :

Snapper Zero Turn Lawn Mowers
If you have an acre or more, tight corners and or an assortment of obstacles to negotiate you are a candidate for a zero turn mower. As an added bonus you should anticipate completing the task of mowing your lawns at least fifty percent quicker than with a walk behind mower. Even the entry level models can get up to 6 mph and swivel around the tightest corners.
The top selling Snapper zero turn mower is the 285Z. It's an entry level mower that will make short work of an acre or less with it's 52" blade. At just under $3,000 it's a bargain. Summary
The thing that we like best about Snapper lawn mowers is that the manufacturer has decided not to compromise on quality, or attempt to come up with the cheapest lawn mower on the block. Sadly too many manufacturers have gone down that path. It's a condition of doing business with Walmart and others. The upshot is that with the exception of Snapper mowers most of the alternatives are unlikely survive more than a few seasons of use. We would rather spend a few more dollars and get a mower that we will have pride in owning, and then look after it to the best of our ability for a decade or more.
